Russellville Is Going Green!

City to Go Green, Mayor Zick has partnered with the Sugar Grove UMC Youth who sell the barrels and the proceeds help support the creation of a new community food bank at their church for low-income Butler County residents. Anyone can order Rain Barrels from them by contacting Kevin Mays at 270-303-0761 or by email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Mayor Zick is also making plans for the First Green Fire Station in the State of Kentucky. His plans for the Recreational Park include artificial turf that will eliminate use of pesticides and poisons for weed control and prevents contamination flowing into the creek and leaching into the water table, control stormwater drainage, save fuel by not using tractors, mowers and weedeaters and also improve air quality eliminating the fumes from usage. Mayor Zick also met with the Sierra Club to initiate a partnership with the School System to incorporate Education, Training and Life-Lessons by installing Rain Gardens at the schools. Russellville’s GOING GREEN and Mayor Zick’s having an immediate direct impact on recycling, reusing and reducing waste.
